Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100

Great TV Great Support from Amazon. I ordered this from Amazon and Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 was to be delivered on the 31 Dec. When Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 did not arrive, I called Amazon on the 2d of Jan as the web tracking was last updated 23 Dec and showed Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 in Sacramento. The gave me a phone number to call the shipper. Four calls later I finally located the TV at the shipper and had the option of waiting another 6 days for them to deliver or go get Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 myself. Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 was a 20 mile trip each way. The bottom of the box was open and after a quick (too quick) inspection the shipper retaped the bottom of the box and I brought Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 home. When opened the manual, batteries, and screws to attach the base were missing. I called Amazon and they said their TV department would contact me. They did and told me I should call Sony to find out if they would supply the missing parts. I said they should call Sony or send me a new TV. They sent a new e-mail saying they had called Sony and if I called Sony, Sony would send the parts. I did call Sony and after 1.5 hours on the phone, I got the parts ordered. Oh, and the said Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 will only take 7 to 10 business days to get the missing parts to me. I will try the TV when they arrive. In the mean time, Amazon’s lack of service is a source of irritation.

UPDATE: After some further discussions with Amazon, they provided a significant credit against the cost of the TV and offered to fund the purchase of screws from a hardware store, a wall mount unit, or what ever Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 took to make this right. I contacted Sony a third time and they finally came through with the screws. My complements to Amazon for doing what was necessary to make this right!

Great Picture, Surprisingly Great Sound. I recently purchased this item and am very pleased with the picture. The unit works great right out of the box without fiddling around with settings. The input selection screen is great if you have multiple auxiliary units to choose from (I have cable, satellite, Xbox, Wii, and PS3 all hooked up). The Motionflow technology worked very well during the Superbowl.

Most surprising is how well the audio system is for the unit. I have a surround sound system and my wife and I find that we use the Sony’s stock sound system more now since Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 sounds great.

If I’m in the market for another TV a year or so from now I will be looking to purchase another XBR6.

This set is a perfect compliment to a bedroom.. Recently acquired this amazing lcd set for my bedroom. The XBR line is one of the finest Sony has to offer and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this beauty when a saw Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 on sale during this past holiday season. Let me tell you, it’s more than I expected from a television set and Sony BRAVIA KDL-52S5100 is the perfect accent to a bedroom or even a living room for that matter. Not just this tv but the whole XBR line has so much to offer as far as lcd’s go.

If you’re a movie lover, you will WANT to get your hands on a blu ray player. If you’re a gamer, like me, this tv will make you drool incessantly. You won’t be disappointed!

Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S5100

No color shift!. I was checking out TVs in my local Best Buy today. Unbelievably, ALL the TVs under 32″ showed marked color shift with changes in the vertical viewing angle — that is, all except the Sony 26″. (The Sony 19″ wasn’t there.) That means that Sony was the ONLY TV maker there that cared about the quality of its smaller TVs enough to offer a decent display.

In other words, if you’re looking for a 26″ set, buy Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S5100 Sony.

On hold for service. Sony Bravia M-Series KDL-26M4000 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTVRecently experienced a problem with a 26M4000 that locked up after auto programing and experienced other fatal issues. Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S5100 will be a serious problem when the nation switches to digital in June 09 when everyone will need to reprogram for digital. The replacement reconditioned 26M4000 that Sony sent had the same problem right out of the box. In fact the reconditioned one has more serious flaws than my original.Sony is dragging their feet in responding to Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S5100 issue. Their initial response was great, I received the defective replacement in 3 days.

Don’t waste your time or money. Let me start by saying I’ve owned one of these for about 9mo and been happy with it. When we needed a second TV for my MIL we decided to get another one. well, after bringing home the TV and setting Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S5100 up Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S5100 would start the “initial setup” scan for channels. After reaching channel 7 Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S5100 would shut down and restart back at the “initial setup” screen over and over. As Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S5100 was obviously defective we returned the TV and brought another one home. Same problem! Sony tech support offered to have Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S5100 “repaired. Yea, right, repair a brand new TV, I don’t think so.

Considering the aggravation and time I’ve spent returning not one but TWO of these, not to mention tying up over $1200 in debit card returns (which by the way, the bank won’t release for 3 business days) insures I’d not recommend this product to anyone.

Say hi to Sony KDL-52V5100 BRAVIA

Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100

Totally not worth the hype. Totally regret getting this. The A650 smokes it. Plus I have sparkles everywhere. Save your money for the A650 and a home theater system. I enjoy Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 .

no white cloud and no sparkles. I’ve only had this tv for a week, but I haven’t had any problem at all with a white cloud or sparkles. I think it’s too expensive, but I also wanted many of the features that Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 offers and that I haven’t seen from any other maker in this size and with a picture this realistic. I’ve had three Trinitrons over the years and quite a few other Sony products. Except for one experience with a telephone that only lasted a year, I’ve never had a problem. This is my first HDTV and I’m still working through trying out all of the features. I’ll write more when I’ve had more experience with it.

Update: Now that I’ve had more experience with this TV I really love it! Watching the opening ceremonies from the summer Olympics on this TV was an amazing experience.

I’ve only had one problem: occasionally the audio would just stop. If I changed the channel Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 would come back immediately. I went to the Sony support site today and found out that they have a new software update for this TV. You can either download the update to a flash drive, or call Sony and have them send you a flash drive containing the update. That’s the route I decided to take as Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 will give me a Sony flash drive to use just for future updates. (The software update covers the audio problem and a few other issues that I haven’t experienced with my TV.)

Great Sony TV – (Not) an Energy Star TV. I received the Sony KDL40-Z4100 two week ago and Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 is definitely a great TV. Delivery was great, worked right away, good and easy menu control, picture is perfect and we really like the design. We were first not so sure about the silver but no regrets.

So, with everything so great why only 3 stars…

Well, one of the decision factors I put into researching LCD screen TVs was their power consumption and Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 should have an Energy Star rating with low standby. Looking at the specs and also at www.energystar.gov Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 shows on power ~150W and standby 0.11W.

While setting up the TV, I enabled the TV Guide which is one of the default options, kind of a nice to have I thought…

Just being curios I started measuring power consumptions (using P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor) on my home theater system and even with everything in standby Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 showed around 30W. After unplugging one device after the next the Sony TV was the only device left and still 19W (the TV was in standby). After doing an online search I came across the following website http://www.deviceguru.com/hdtvs-dam-pops-energy-stars-bubble/ which pointed Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 to the TV Guide. Apparently having TV Guide enabled will increase the standby consumption to around 20 W for 75% of the time. The website also describes how to disable the TV Guide. Now having disabled the TV Guide standby is at less than 1W.

Not sure who to blame, Energy Star for certifying Sony BRAVIA KDL-52V5100 or Sony for building a 20 Watt powered TV Guide. 5 Stars for the TV, 0 Stars for Energy = 3 Stars

Sony BRAVIA KDL-32XBR9 Final

Sony BRAVIA KDL-32XBR9

TV’s Great, “White Glove” Service isn’t.

The 46″ Sony TV works good, but does need some adjustment to the picture. I’ve tried to make adjustments exactly as the manual instructs, but to no avail. No big deal, but I guess I’ll have to call the service dept. Now on to what really bothers me…. The promise of “White Glove” delivery.

Our new TV was delivered on Dec. 23, 2008 at 5:45PM. We paid for and expected “White Glove” delivery service. What we got was ONE individual who was “sorry” that he was unable to install the TV (Sony 46″) on a new TV stand we purchased because Sony BRAVIA KDL-32XBR9 was too big for him to handle alone. (I offered to help.) We had EVERYTHING set up and ready for the installation. What the delivery people (we expected more than one guy)had to do was attach two brackets to the back of the TV and hang the TV on the stand. Really, no big deal. The individual again was “sorry”, but he was only able to do a “standard” set-up. I guess the standard set-up consisted of placing the TV on a table and walking away. We ended up doing the job ourselves, and disposing of the packing material.

Many TV’s this big are hung on a wall or onto a stand. Our request was not unusual, and certainly well within the realm of a customary installation. You need to retrain your delivery personnel to accommodate a simple installation other than simply placing the purchased TV onto a table.

Review of perfection. I have always purchased Sony televisions because of their quality and the reliability. The Sony Bravia XBR KDL-46 from the quality perspective is as good as Sony BRAVIA KDL-32XBR9 gets. Crystal clear HI DEF and the non-HI DEF shows an amazing improvement also. Obviously, I cannot comment on the reliability at this point but the Sony Sony BRAVIA KDL-32XBR9 replaced was 25 years old and fault free. A word of caution in choosing your service provider. Make sure that they do not interfere with the functionality of your television. Specifically, your PIP capabilities. My new cable provider has helped me around this problem (thanks to the multiple inputs of the TV) but Sony BRAVIA KDL-32XBR9 is still not to the perfection Sony BRAVIA KDL-32XBR9 should be. I could not be happier with Amazon, the set arrived as scheduled, undamaged with the “White Glove” handler very helpful and courteous. By the way, the price I paid was cheaper than the manufacturer and all the big-name electronics stores.

Great purchase. I was looking to upgarde from the old tube style TV and Ammazon helped me all the way. Great price, great service and most of all great viewing in my living room. That is why I shop Amazon because you cannot beat their delivery and prompt service. Way to go. I enjoy Sony BRAVIA KDL-32XBR9 .

Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000

Very Happy!. The TV is awesome! Amazon is great to deal with. Not much more a person can say! I like Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000 .

Sony KDL-52W4100. This TV is great. Picture is amazing. THe people actually look real while watching Fios in HD or Blu-Ray movies. PS3 games also look amazing. Sound from the TV is great too. I highly recomend this TV. Would buy again in a heart beat. As noted by others, TV does get rather hot after watching for a time.

Received the White Glove delivery from Pilot. They actually did an excellent job. Delivery was on the day scheduled (albeit they were late but Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000 was weather related). They took the TV into the house, unpacked it, and put Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000 on the stand for me. They also stayed around and made sure Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000 worked (and I didn’t even need to ask them to do so).

Sony Bravia. Excellent and speedy delivery. Ordered Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000 on Saturday and Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000 was delivered and set up on Wednesday (4 days). Very easy to set up. Very intuitive controls, instructions and features. Excellent speakers. Excellent picture. We do not have cable; the TV is hooked up to our old $19.99 set of rabbit ear antennas. We get all the free broadcast HDTV programming without any difficulty and with excellent reception. Very easy to connect laptop to set. DVD and VCR hook-ups also very easy.

Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000

Excellent TV–Great Value. Purchased Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 TV from Amazon with the white glove service. Exceptional picture and nice delivery service. Reviewed/Observed many brands and came down to Sony or Samsung. Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 TV provides excellent image quality, deep color reproduction, nice grayscale contrast, and good sound quality. Certainly a great value for the price. Std definition programming is quite good and HD is exceptional. User interface is intuitive. Very happy that I finally decided on the Sony.

Great TV, not quite White Glove delivery service. This TV is excellent right out of the box. After using Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 with a conventional DVD player and a Comcast HD box, Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 is what I expected. HD channels were terrific and convential stations had greater clarity than by prior 32 inch Panasonic Viera. Blue Ray player is obviously on the horizon to synch with this TV.

The “White Glove” delivery promised by Amazon (since they sold this one) is anything but. Purchasers should be aware that the base needs to be attached to the set and screws used to secure it. This is specified to be a two person job. The driver had specific instructions to not attach the table top base, but just to unpack Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 and then set Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 where the purchaser wants it, as if this can be done without attaching the base. Then they are supposed to leave, but they want you to sign a form stating among other things that the power and picture work, while not setting Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 up. Just doing all the things on the check list would have kept the driver there for half an hour to make all the connections and try the product.

Great TV, Superb Picture (except the static dot sparkles see text), Good Value. Have had my 40V4100 a month now. Had originally wanted the “W” with 120 Hz but this “V” was on sale locally making the difference $600. I do not regret buying this 60 Hz set, and saving hundreds of dollars. Overall Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 is excellent after getting the picture settings adjusted to my liking. Audio quality from the built-in speakers is surprisingly good with the Dynamic mode ON and some extra bass and treble. I do have a minor problem that seems to be common to this new line of Sony LCD TVs – intermittent tiny bright white dots that appear randomly across the picture in a straight line, just a few at a time, about 4″ below the top of the picture, in HDMI mode only. Most noticeable on dark or black scenes. I almost exchanged the set for another one, until I saw the same white dots on a 40V4100 at the store playing a Blu-Ray disc. So far Sony’s support does not seem to recognize the problem. I hope Sony will pay attention to what their customers are telling them and come up with a fix for this ASAP because Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 can be quite noticeable on HDMI upcsaled DVD or Blu-Ray sources. If not for that I would rate Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 a 5.

EDIT and UPDATE! Sept 14, 2008 – I am happy to report that Sony has come through and addressed the white dot sparkle problem with an easy to use software/firmware update via a USB flash drive they sent. I now have ZERO white dot sparkles, and a perfect picture. Excellent! And at today’s prices a couple of hundred dollars less than in May when I bought mine, Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 is an even better deal!

Hello Sony BRAVIA KDL-46V5100

Sony BRAVIA KDL-46V5100

Kinda bummed. I bought this to replace a KDL-26S2010. While the size is great and so is the picture, there are definitely a couple of issues with this TV. Maybe my expectations were a little too high, but this is supposed to be a top of the line TV.

1. The stand is small, little wobbly and seems flimsy. If I lived anywhere with earthquakes, I would definitely attach this to the wall or attach the base to something.

2. My old S2010 had the ability to enter a name for the inputs. This model only allows you to select the name from a list. If you have an XBox and a PS3, they both get labeled “game”. Same issue with Cable/Satellite.

3. When I turned Sony BRAVIA KDL-46V5100 on, I noticed immediately that there were “flashlighting” white patches in both upper corners. I’m amazed that this could get out of the factory with such an obvious defect. All they would have to do is turn Sony BRAVIA KDL-46V5100 on to see this. I’m really disappointed with Sony for trying to pass this defect on to me, especially considering the price and supposed quality of this TV.

Incorrect Condition. Hi, I bought this TV, supposedly in “Mint” condition. However, on arrival the TV looks as if Sony BRAVIA KDL-46V5100 has been used for a while – minor scratches on the screen and a few dead pixels pretty much make a mockery of the “Mint” condition. I am looking into options to return this TV , hope that the shipping isnt too bad

Amazing style. I dont think I will do complete justice to this review because I still have not explored many options on this and so far I have been watching only dvd’s. I do not have a cable connection yet nor i tried the dlna functions, So I would have to come back and do one more review.

Anyways, First of all the tv is really great in looks, some of my friends who have looked at this tv were really impressed. When I started researching into buying lcd’s only two things came on top sony xbr and samsung 650/750 series. When I went to look at the display’s in bestbuy samsung really turned me off due to glossy screen finish and there was too much ambient light reflection. But one thing I can say about samsung is that the TV infact is bigger for the same 40″ compared to sony xbr6. When I looked at the xbr7 model Sony BRAVIA KDL-46V5100 made perfect sense to me coz of no reflection at all and the second thing the screen is pretty wide and looks really sleek. The picture is really amazing although the motion enhancer is really useless, when I turn Sony BRAVIA KDL-46V5100 on Sony BRAVIA KDL-46V5100 feels like all the movements on the screen are slowed down and does not look natural. Color is really well designed, although initially I had to go through lot of changes in settings, the factory settings are horrible.

Coming to the shipping, I was really disappointed in the way the tv was shipped, For such a big ticket item i would have expected the packaging to be well done, But all they had was one flimsy cardboard box with no padding nothing…I just said thanks to god that nothing got damaged,I think it’s a miracle that the tv made it, Maybe the handlers were really good all the way during the transit process. The person who delivered the tv was also very good, although he is not supposed to he helped me set-up the tv on the stand, thanks to him for that.
