Make sure you have the correct (RX) Topeak rack for this to go on. I have an explorer rack, wasn’t paying attention, and bought this. Obviously it doesn’t fit on the rack. However, you can screw it into most of the standard size threaded holes on your mountain bike. I attached it to the U at the top of my seat stays and it actually does a commendable job at keeping extra muck off of me. I was surprised at how small it is… it ranges from 1.25 inches wide to 1.75 inches wide and is about 6 ……

If you’ve ever ridden a bike in the rain or in the mud you know why fenders are necessary. Before I attached this fender to my bike my backside would be drenched in even the lightest drizzle. Now I can ride through the largest puddle and barely feel a drop. I’m very happy

I wish I had noticed I needed a certain type of bicycle. I have a Trek mountain bike, and I am going to have to go to a bike shop to get something to mount this to my seat – otherwise it will not work.

I looked for quite a little bit at the various bike racks available before finally deciding on this one. I had wanted a seat post mounted rack at first, so that I knew it would fit properly without frame modification or much trouble. After looking around for a while, I came to the conclusion that all the available seat post racks were much more susceptible to being stolen and load shifting. I eventually reluctantly made the purchase, and hoped for the best.

This rack was a pain to install on my Trek 4300 mountain bike. I needed to go to the hardware store and find a metal piece that wrapped around my bike seat post that the metal bars (on the left most part of the picture) could screw into and hold the rack in place. Otherwise once it’s installed, it’s a sturdy rack and works well with Topeak bags that slide into a locked position.

Installed this rack on my old Schwinn. My Schwinn has two bottom mounting options, and the lower option allowed the top brackets to align perfectly with the bolts on the center tube. I did not have to bend any brackets to install. Installation took about 15-20 minutes. Planet Bike tail light mount (purchased seperately) aligned perfectly with bracket on rack. I had two options here as well and chose the lower position to keep the tail light out of the way when using the rack. The rack appears qu……

I now have two racks, one on my bike, one on the wife’s. We use these with the bag with fold out panniers. The only proble is that the silver seat stay supports have to be bent to fit the bike. Both of my bikes have a seat stay spread that is too wide, so I just use one support that has been bent a bit to fit my frame. Not a big deal as that support doesn’t carry the main load.

I bought this fender for my Specialized Expedition Sport comfort bike to keep mud and water off of the frame during my commutes to work on paved and dirt roads. The front portion of the fender was so far above the wheel that it did almost no good. Also, after about only a week of use, the front portion of this “quick release” fender snapped completely off. For the last week or so I have been riding with only the rear portion of the front fender, and this morning the entire installation mechan……

the product was poorly made, the front and back half of the fender broke off after 2 and 4 weeks of use respectively. the fender was being used for commuting to work (not even mountain biking or off road riding). as soon as it fell apart, i had to order a headland fender to replace the current one. caveat emptor!!

When the fender was attached, it worked very well, however the mechanism to mount to the front fork failed on me. It’s just an expanding wedge type mechanism to secure it to the fork, but it lost tension and eventually failed, which was unfortunate because until then, it was great.

Unless I am missing something, the method of attachment doesn’t work with centerpull brakes, and the instructions on the packaging do not appear to illustrate alternative means of attachment.

Works very well at keeping mud and water from ruining your day. It is true that the fender won’t prevent all the water and mud from coming off your front wheel, and your shoes might get a little wet. But this is much better then what would happen without it. Its also true that this fender is made of plastic but its also very lightweight. All and all unbeatable for the price

The mount was easy enough but the fender could not hold its weight as soon as i hit a slight bump the fender hit the rear wheel and the plastic cracked.

this fender could barely support its own weight, often dropping and scraping the top of my rear tire almost like a baseball in the spokes of a bike. when it wasn’t moving out of position vertically, it would rotate laterally & scrape the sides of my rear tire. fastens to the frame well enough not to fall off (which would have been desirable) but not well enough to stay in position. i bought a replacement within a month because this fender worked so poorly.

Just about every piece of this guy is plastic. It would have been nice if they had used a few pieces of sturdy metal on the joints for durability.



In the end though, it does what it says. It clips on to the seat post with a quick release bolt which is nice if you have days when you don’t need to use it. It’s simple to adjust it to the correct angle. For the price, I don’t think I could have done better.

I can’t believe that Topeak would produce such a piece of junk! I installed the M2 on my bike and accidentally hit the fender with my foot while mounting the bike and the plastic piece that connects the fender to the seat post snapped off! The fender itself isn’t bad (that’s the only reason why it got 2 stars)but Topeak needs to retool the connection point on this. I found it odd that a company that manufactures such wonderful tools would produce something so trashy!

Made by Topeak, this one is tougher then the Air Defender because this Defender won’t “flat” itself, but it’s a little bit big and heavy for a mountain bike though…



Still, if you need a defender, this won’t make you disappointed.

I was excited about the purchase as the design of this was superb over all other fenders seen on the market, However I was unable to use the product more than once as the material for joints and adjustments are rigid and fragile, and when my leg hit the fender, the joint was shader to pieces.

Looks great and all, and a cinch to install. But as I was getting onto the bike, I accidentally kicked it and it snapped at the arm, which is deceptively thin and unsupported.

Quick to install (just screw the plastic bolt into your forks) and quick to take off and put on (front and back slide on and off with a simple press of a button).



Only issue I could see was that the fender may not be able to take much of a beating due to it (and all the joints) being made out of plastic.



Used it on two 18 mile trips and was so glad to have it.



Worth the price.

The fender was fine while it lasted…But it only lasted for about 10 rides and then fatigue-cracked at the plastic mounting bracket. The fender fell off and is now worthless – $20 down the drain. Fender should be beefier at the mounting point. Do not buy!!

the fender looks great, but i have a high end bike and the stear tube hole was too small for the mounting bracket to fit in so i have to find a diffrent bracket or make one otherwise it looks grat but i have not mounted it yet
